Registration for the 2009 Canyonlands Half Marathon and
Five Mile Run lottery is now closed.

    Lodging in Moab is extremely limited and it is quite likely all available lodging will be reserved for race weekend. Moab Half Marathon, Inc. does not guarantee lodging to participants and will not refund registration due to lack of lodging availability or for any other reason.

    2009 LOTTERY REGISTRATION PROCESS:

  • Registration for the 2009 Canyonlands Half Marathon and Five Mile Run lottery will open November 18th and will close at 8:00 pm MST December 12th.
  • All applicants will be entered into a lottery for 4000 entries (both races combined).
  • Registration is online or by mail only. There is no race day registration and no applications will be accepted via phone or fax. No registration forms will be mailed.
  • Mail in applications must be typed prior to printing. Incomplete or handwritten applications will be discarded.
  • Send separate checks for each application mailed in.
  • After the initial 4000 participants have been selected, a silent auction for 100 entries will be held. All money raised above the entry fee will be donated to local causes.
  • Please submit only one entry. Duplicate applications will be disqualified.
  • Each applicant will receive an e-mail to confirm lottery registration.
  • The registration fee is $60 for both races.

    Group Registration
    There are many people (e.g. husband/wife pairs) that only want to participate if certain other people also are allowed to run. Using the group feature allows just that. The purpose of a group is to tie individuals together for the lottery. Once the lottery pick is made, the groups will dissolve. Everyone in that group is either all in, or all out. The probability of being selected will be the same, regardless of whether you're in a group. Your odds will not go up or down by going through the lottery process as a group.

  • All groups must register online.
  • Group size is limited to up to 6 applicants. No exceptions.
  • The first person to register will create the group name.
  • Subsequent applicants can search for their group by group name or by the name of members of the group that have already registered.
  • The group name must be unique.
  • You cannot change the name of your group.
  • Members of the same group can sign up for either race (half marathon or five mile)

    2009 LOTTERY SELECTION PROCESS:

  • The lottery selection will take place after December 12, 2008. 4000 participants will be randomly selected. All lottery applicants, whether selected or not will be notified by email after the drawing. A confirmation search will also be posted on the website with registration status. Confirmation cards will be mailed out to all lottery winners in January.
  • There are NO REFUNDS once registration has been selected. No exceptions.
  • If you are not selected in the lottery, your check will be shredded or your credit card will not be charged; or you can donate your entry fee to a designated local charity.
SILENT AUCTION INFORMATION:
  • Entries are available through silent auction.
  • Registration is available online only.
  • The minimum bid is $100.
  • Individual entries only will be accepted; no group entries.
  • You may re-enter your bid at a higher value once each day, but only one bid (the highest one) will be accepted per person.
  • The 100 highest bidders will be selected and notified by email.
  • All monies above the entry fee will be donated to local charities and may be tax deductible (consult your tax preparer).
  • If you are not one of the 100 highest bidders, your credit card will not be charged.
Remember there are no refunds and no transfers.
