2010 LOTTERY REGISTRATION PROCESS:

• Registration for the 2010 Canyonlands Half Marathon and Five Mile Run lottery will open November 25th and will close December 10th.
• All applicants will be entered into a lottery for 4000 entries (both races combined).
• Registration is online or by mail only. There is no race day registration and no applications will be accepted via phone or fax. No registration forms will be mailed.
• Mail in applications must be typed prior to printing. Incomplete or handwritten applications will be discarded.
• Send separate checks for each application mailed in.
• After the initial 4000 participants have been selected, a charity registration for 100 entries will be held. All money raised above the entry fee will be donated to local causes.
• Please submit only one entry. Duplicate applications will be disqualified.
• Each applicant will receive an e-mail to confirm lottery registration.
• The registration fee is $65 for both race distances.
  

• All groups must register online.
• Group size is limited to up to 6 applicants. No exceptions.
• Groups cannot be linked together.
• The first person to register will create the group name.
• Subsequent applicants can search for their group by group name or by the name of members of the group that have already registered.
• The group name must be unique.
• You cannot change the name of your group.
• Members of the same group can sign up for either race (half marathon or five mile)
  

• The lottery selection will take place after December 10, 2009. 4000 participants will be randomly selected. All lottery applicants, whether selected or not will be notified by email after the drawing. A confirmation search will also be posted on the website with registration status. Confirmation cards will be mailed out to all lottery winners in January.
• There are NO REFUNDS once registration has been selected. No exceptions.
• If you are not selected in the lottery, your check will be shredded or your credit card will not be charged; or you can donate your entry fee to a designated local charity.
  

• Entries are available through charity registration.
• Registration is available online only.
• The cost is $100.
• Individual entries only will be accepted; no group entries.
• 100 entries will be available.
• All monies above the entry fee will be donated to local charities and may be tax deductible (consult your tax preparer).
• Registration will remain open until all 100 slots have been filled.

Remember there are no refunds and no transfers.

How do I get a Guarantee Entry into the Canyonlands Half Marathon?

Every year, the number of applicants for the Canyonlands Half Marathon far exceeds the number of slots we have available.  As a result, entrants are selected via lottery.  However, there are several ways to avoid this nail-biting process and guarantee a spot in the race.

RUN FAST
Win your age group in the Canyonlands Half Marathon or The Other Half races and guarantee a spot in the following year’s Canyonlands Half Marathon. 

KEEP RUNNING                  
Run nine Canyonlands Half Marathons and you qualify for the 10 Year Club.  10 Year Club members automatically qualify for guarantee entry into all future Canyonlands Half Marathon events.
Run all three of our events (Canyonlands Half Marathon, The Other Half and the Winter Sun 10K) in one year and you will receive a guarantee entry to the following year’s Canyonlands Half Marathon.

TYPE FAST
Be among the first 100 registrants for the Winter Sun 10K and receive a guarantee entry into the following year’s Canyonlands Half Marathon.  You must pick up your guarantee entry in person at the Winter Sun 10K packet pickup.

BE GENEROUS
Registrants who donate their entry fees to a local charity when they are not picked in the lottery for Canyonlands Half Marathon receive a guarantee entry into the following year’s race.  This is our way of saying “Thank You” for supporting important community entities like Grand County Cross Country Team, the Humane Society of Moab Valley and Girls On The Run.
Fundraise for Hometown Heroes or Team in Training and receive a guarantee entry into the Canyonlands Half Marathon.  These organizations raise money for cancer research, education and patient support.
